Knife Attack in Mulhouse, France, One Person DEAD
One person has died and several others have been injured as a result of a knife attack in a market in a town in eastern France, in what French authorities have described as a terrorist attack.
In a press release, the French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office reported that the suspect had been arrested and was in police custody.
Michèle Lutz, mayor of the city of Mulhouse, said in a statement posted on Facebook: There is an atmosphere of terror in our city.

A man attacked passers-by with a knife in the canal market, and police officers tried to stop him, resulting in injuries as well.
The attacker attacked several municipal police officers and a passerby while shouting “Allahu Akbar”, the prosecutor’s office said. One civilian was killed and three police officers were injured in this attack.
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and said the national anti-terrorism prosecutor was investigating the incident.
Macron said that given the attacker’s words, there was no doubt that it was an Islamic terrorist act.
